Meet Our Team: Sonika Poojari Tells How interTouch Drives Innovation

This week we had the opportunity to sit down with Sonika Poojari, who works as Assistant Manager HR for interTouch in India, based out of our Mumbai office.

Could you tell us a little bit about your background?
“I have been working with interTouch in the human resources department for nearly a year and a half now, and prior to that gained HR experience in several other industries. I have a bachelor’s degree in management studies and am currently pursuing my post graduate education in Human Resources at NMIMS Mumbai Central.”

What is the best part of working at interTouch?
“interTouch encourages employees to think creatively and to help drive innovation within the business. At the same time, the company motivates employees to advance their knowledge, skills, and education by advancing their studies and certification courses. I really enjoy being in a place that demands excellence whilst providing a stimulating, healthy and positive work environment.”

What is the most exciting part of your role?
“Every day I get an opportunity to learn something new. Prior to joining interTouch I worked primarily in recruitment and now I have the opportunity to explore all other aspects of human resources. My role includes brainstorming, which challenges me to think out of the box.”

What makes interTouch such a great place to work?
“The company welcomes new ideas and opinions, and the management is very supportive and approachable, which is really important. I also enjoy my working hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM which enables me to have a good work-life balance.”

What do you see as the biggest trends in hotel technology?
“I would say both mobile check-in service and Artificial Intelligence (AI).”

Once we can all travel again, what cities/places/destinations are on your bucket list?
“Jaipur (India), Sydney, USA, Maldives, and Switzerland.”

Do you have a role model in life?
“Yes absolutely, my parents and my family are my role models. Their commitment to their duties and responsibilities inspires me to follow in their footsteps. They are loving and determined in pursuing their plan to nurture us with good values and norms so that we will become responsible and well-disciplined.”

“All of us do not have equal talent, yet all of us have an equal opportunity to develop our talent.” – Ratan Tata.

What are your key learnings from the Covid-19 pandemic?
“Family time, personal and environmental hygiene. I believe that the challenges people around the world face as a result of Covid-19 have taught mankind many lessons regarding lifestyle and scientific and technological developments, which are for us to keep in mind for the better.”
